Textures and Patterns in Nature

New lessons! Nature provides us with a full range of textures and patterns that do not cease to enchant us. In this intermediate-level class you will learn how to capture nature’s design and organic forms with an artistic vision. We will use natural and artificial light to sculpture the textures and carve out the details while paying attention to background and composition outdoors as well as indoors. Class will include lecture, critiques, and time in the Garden.

Basic knowledge of your camera’s manual settings and of editing software like Lightroom or Photoshop are required.

Chinese Art and Photography

Nourish your creativity and artistic process by immersing yourself in the aesthetics and visual cultures of China. We will survey the history of photography in China, analyze the style and approach of exemplary Chinese artists, and learn about elements of Chinese art and design. Weekly assignments will be inspired by poems and quotes. Classes will also include image reviews, discussions of tools and techniques, and developing a final portfolio. 

Intermediate level of Lightroom or Photoshop is required. Intermediate to advanced level. This class will be taught online.
