Iris was born in Nuremberg, Germany, and grew up in Burgthann, a small village outside of town, where she belonged to a community of agriculture and craftsmanship and a family who has lived there, earthbound, for many centuries. She was raised by an adventurous father whose work as an engineer took them to places around the world, and a loving mother who always led them back to home. It made her a wanderer with strong roots.
She has a Master’s in Chinese Studies, worked as a teacher for Chinese and German, and as a program manager for the Chinese Department in the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg until she moved to Chicago with her husband and daughters. Her American sabbatical transitioned into a life full of photography and art, and that is where this website begins....
Iris is a member of the Perspective Group and Gallery in Evanston, IL and of the Chicago Photographic Arts Society.
